The following was written on the 2000-01 Men's Basketball Team's Hall of Fame Plaque.

The 2000–01 Siena Heights men’s basketball team enjoyed a historic season, finishing with a 31–6 overall record and a 12–2 mark in WHAC play. The Saints captured the WHAC Championship and earned the No. 2 overall seed in the NAIA National Championship Tournament, where they advanced past the first round before suffering an upset loss in round two. The team’s 31 victories are tied for the most in program history.

An offensive powerhouse, Siena Heights led the NAIA in scoring, averaging 96 points per game and surpassing the 100-point mark in 14 games. The Saints also won the Maple City Classic and captured the Milk Jug in the Battle of Adrian, continuing a dominant stretch of 15 consecutive rivalry wins.

Fred Smith was named WHAC Coach of the Year, while Jeff Gullekson and Matt Baaki earned First Team All-WHAC honors. Sean Carlson received Second Team All-WHAC recognition, and Gullekson was named to the WHAC All-Defensive Team. Matt Bennett, Tim Fortescue, Gullekson, and Andy Power earned Academic All-WHAC honors. Gullekson added NAIA Scholar-Athlete recognition and NAIA Second Team All-American honors, while Baaki and Carlson earned NAIA Honorable Mention All-American accolades.

The roster included six future Hall of Famers—Matt Baaki, Steve Biggs, Sean Carlson, Myron Gray, Jeff Gullekson, and Andy Power—and was guided by Hall of Fame coaches Fred Smith and Al Sandifer.
