The following was written on the 2001-02 Men's Basketball Team's Hall of Fame Plaque.

The 2001–02 Siena Heights University men’s basketball team finished the season with a 30–6 overall record and a 12–2 mark in WHAC play. The Saints claimed the WHAC Regular Season Championship and earned a berth in the NAIA National Championship Tournament as the No. 5 seed, winning their opening game before falling in the second round. Their 30 victories rank as the third-highest total in program history.

Siena Heights captured the prestigious National Catholic Tournament Championship, with Sean Carlson earning Tournament MVP honors and Steve Biggs being named to the All-Tournament Team. The Saints also won the Maple City Classic and claimed the Milk Jug in the Battle of Adrian, extending a streak of 15 consecutive rivalry victories.

Carlson was named WHAC Player of the Year, while Fred Smith earned WHAC Coach of the Year honors. Carlson and Myron Gray were named First Team All-WHAC, with Biggs earning Third Team All-WHAC recognition. Gray was selected to the WHAC All-Defensive Team, and Jason Rennie earned WHAC All-Newcomer Team honors. Matt Bennett, Nathan Bradford, and Andy Power received Academic All-WHAC honors, with Power also earning NAIA Scholar-Athlete recognition. Carlson was named NAIA Second Team All-American, while Gray earned NAIA Honorable Mention All-American honors.

The Saints featured seven future Hall of Famers—Steve Biggs, Sean Carlson, Lloyd Cowles, Doug Gray, Myron Gray, Greg McPherson, and Jason Rennie—and were coached by Hall of Fame coaches Fred Smith and Al Sandifer.
