The following was written on Ronald Hopkins III's Hall of Fame Plaque.
Ronald Hopkins III played for the Saints from 1989–90 through 1992–93, establishing himself as one of the program’s premier players. He earned First Team All-District 23 honors and was named to the WHAC All-Defensive Team during the inaugural year of the WHAC.
Hopkins III became the 15th member of the Saints’ 1,000-point club, finishing his career with 1,255 points, which ranked ninth all-time at the conclusion of his career. In 1991–92, he set the second-highest single-season free throw percentage in program history at 80.26%. He completed his career shooting 44.11% from the field and 78.92% from the free throw line.
In addition to his scoring, Hopkins III totaled 304 rebounds, 246 assists (seventh all-time at the end of his career), and 144 steals, demonstrating his all-around impact on the court. He played a key role in leading the Saints to their first-ever WHAC Championship during the league’s inaugural season, cementing his legacy as a foundational figure in SHU basketball history.
