The following was printed on Ashley Helmink's Hall of Fame Plaque:
Ashley Helmink delivered one of the most remarkable single seasons in Saints history and was a cornerstone of the program from 2016-2019. In 2019, she was named an NAIA First Team All-American infielder — one of only three Saints ever to earn First Team All-American honors. She was also named the WHAC Player of the Year, becoming one of just three players in program history to receive that distinction.
Helmink earned NFCA First Team All-American honors in 2019 and NFCA Second Team All-Region honors in 2018. She was a two-time First Team All-WHAC selection and a key contributor to the Saints’ 2019 WHAC Tournament Championship and NAIA National Tournament qualifying team.
Her academic accomplishments matched her athletic excellence. In 2019, she was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America First Team. She was also a three-time Academic All-WHAC honoree, a two-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete, and a four-time NFCA Scholar-Athlete.
Upon graduation, Helmink ranked 3rd in career batting average (.413), 6th in home runs (16), 9th in runs scored (101), 6th in doubles (39), and 6th in triples (10).
Her 2019 season was historic. She ranked 2nd in batting average (.462) and hits (80), 2nd in home runs (10), and set single-season records in RBI (60), runs scored (63), doubles (25), and triples (9). She also ranked 4th in at-bats (173). In 2018, her six home runs ranked among the program’s top single-season marks.
Helmink also etched her name into the single-game and streak record books. She recorded eight at-bats in a game against Cornerstone on April 23, 2018. On March 4, 2019, she became the only known player in program history to hit for the cycle in a game, accomplishing the feat against Dakota State in Tucson, Arizona. She also holds the longest documented hitting streak in program history at 24 games, spanning from March 7 through April 7, 2019.
