Peyton Banks is the most prolific scorer in SHU basketball history—men’s or women’s. She is also the most decorated women’s basketball player in school history.
Banks, a forward for the Saints from 2018–19 through 2022–23, earned NAIA All-American honors four times: once on the First Team, once on the Third Team, and twice as an Honorable Mention. She is the only three-time WHAC Player of the Year in league history and a four-time First Team All-WHAC honoree. Additionally, she was named to the WHAC All-Freshman Team.
Banks’ achievements extended beyond the court. She was a three-time Academic All-WHAC selection and a three-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete. She also earned three WBCA All-American honors—once on the First Team and twice as an Honorable Mention.
Her name is found throughout the SHU record books. Banks scored 2,193 career points, making her one of only two players in SHU history (men’s or women’s) to surpass 2,000 career points, and she holds the record for the most points in SHU basketball history.
She finished her career ranked: 2nd in points per game (15.61), 2nd in field goals made (690), 5th in field goals attempted (1,362), 10th in field goal percentage (50.66%), 4th in three-point field goals made (178), 7th in three-point field goals attempted (422), 1st in three-point field goal percentage (42.18%), 2nd in rebounds (1,005), 1st in free throws made (581), 1st in free throws attempted (650), and 1st in free throw percentage (89.38%).
Banks is one of only four players—men’s or women’s—to record over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career.
She also holds numerous top-ten single-season marks, including: 6th and 7th in total points (524 in 2019–20; 523 in 2022–23), 8th and 9th in points per game (17.50 in 2020–21; 17.43 in 2022–23), 1st, 4th, 5th, and 8th in three-point field goal percentage (45.4% in 2019–20; 44.2% in 2020–21; 43.0% in 2022–23; 41.5% in 2018–19), 1st and 9th in free throws made (150 in 2022–23; 116 in 2019–20), 8th in free throws attempted (170 in 2022–23), The top four single-season free throw percentages (93.1% in 2020–21; 92.8% in 2019–20; 90.2% in 2018–19; 88.2% in 2022–23), and 6th in rebounds (278 in 2019–20).
Banks also holds several single-game records, including: 47 points vs. Northwestern Ohio (2022–23), 17 free throws made vs. Indiana Tech (2018–19), and 18 free throws attempted vs. Indiana Tech (2018–19).
Banks was a member of two NAIA National Tournament–qualifying teams during her remarkable career.
