The following was written on April Watson's Hall of Fame Plaque:
April Watson was a forward for the Saints from 2015–16 through 2016–17.
In 2016–17, Watson earned First Team NAIA All-American honors, becoming the first player in SHU women’s basketball history to receive that distinction. She was also named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American in 2015–16. During her career, she earned two First Team All-WHAC selections, two WHAC All-Defensive Team honors, and was recognized as the WHAC Newcomer of the Year.
Watson became the 10th woman in program history to surpass the 1,000-point milestone, finishing her career with 1,073 points, which still ranks 11th all-time at SHU. At the conclusion of her career, she also ranked: 7th in career points (1,073), 6th in career field goals made (445), 4th in career field goal percentage (56.19%), and 7th in career rebounds (661).
Watson finished her career averaging 16.77 points per game and totaling 129 blocked shots—both of which remain SHU career records.
Her 2016–17 season was one of the most dominant in Saints history, as she set multiple single-season program records. That year, Watson recorded: 658 points (1st), 19.35 points per game (2nd), 273 field goals made (1st), 383 rebounds (1st), and 68 blocked shots (1st)
In 2015–16, she added 278 rebounds (5th) and 61 blocked shots (then 1st), further cementing her place among the program’s all-time greats.
Watson was a key member of the 2016–17 Hall of Fame Team, which also competed in the NAIA National Tournament.
