Debbie Baierl made a lasting impact on Saints women’s soccer during her career from 1989 to 1992. Competing before the Saints joined the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), Baierl's opportunities for conference honors were limited. However, her talent and dedication still earned national recognition. In 1992, she was named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American and an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a testament to her excellence both on the field and in the classroom.

Although complete statistical records from her era are unavailable, Baierl is credited with 28 goals, three assists, and two game-winning goals over her career. She was also a key contributor to the 1990 Hall of Fame Team, helping to elevate the program’s status during its early years.

In 1991, Baierl was honored with the Thomas Emmet Sr. Award, presented annually to a male and female junior student-athlete who demonstrates outstanding performance in both academics and athletics.

Following her playing career, Baierl remained connected to the program, serving as an assistant coach in 1994, continuing her legacy of leadership and commitment to Saints athletics.
