ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team split two double-header games with Madonna on Sunday. SHU fell in game one 11-7 before coming out on top 12-2 in the second game.
The Saints will return to action on Tuesday, April 8, with a 1 & 4 p.m. EDT conference double-header at Defiance.
Game One: Madonna 11, Siena Heights 7
Brock Olmstead and Landon DeVaney led SHU at the plate going 2-for-3. Caden Gomes also added two hits.
Jack Semler and Devin Eads got SHU started with RBIs to go ahead 2-0 after the first.
Madonna scored one run in the second and three in the third to take a 4-2 lead.
Landon DeVaney grabbed SHU the lead back with a three-RBI double to make it 5-4. Seven straight runs with four in the third and three in the fifth for the Crusaders put them ahead for good.
Brock Olmstead homered in the sixth.
Game Two: Siena Heights 12, Madonna 2
Jack Semler went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs. Landon DeVaney hit another three-RBI game going 4-for-5 at-bat.
Andrew Baum went the distance on the hill and was charged with two runs while striking out four batters.
SHU never trailed as they started out with a four-run first inning. Semler, Devin Eads, and DeVaney recorded RBIs followed by Eads reaching home.
Madonna trimmed the deficit at 4-2 until Caden Gomes hit a two-RBI home run to make it 6-2.
Mil Ramsey homered again for SHU in the fourth to start a three-run inning as Semler and Eads recorded RBIs.
Semler tallied an RBI single in the fifth and a two-RBI double in the seventh. DeVaney walked off to end game two in seven innings with a two-RBI double to end the game as a result of a mercy rule.
