LIVONIA, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team split a pair of WHAC double-header games at Madonna on Saturday. Madonna won the first game 15-0, and SHU won the second game 7-5.
The Saints will return to action on Tuesday, April 22, in a WHAC double-header at Defiance at 9 a.m. & 12 p.m. EDT.
Game One: Madonna 15, Siena Heights 0
Caden Gomes, Gino Hutchinson, Vinny Smith, and Brock Olmstead had one hit each for SHU.
On the hill, Chase Molnar and Ethan Stines combined for five strikeouts.
Madonna scored seven runs in the second, and four in the third and fourth innings each.
Game Two: Siena Heights 7, Madonna 5
Gino Hutchinson and Aidan Grinstead led SHU offensively, going 3-for-5 at the plate.
Shilo Bernal Jr. worked all 10 innings and was charged with two earned runs off nine hits while forcing five strikeouts.
Landon DeVaney grabbed SHU the lead in the first inning with an RBI single. Aidan Grinstead recorded an RBI single in the second, and Huthcinson scored on a wild pitch in the fourth as SHU led 3-0 after four innings.
Madonna grabbed its first lead, scoring two runs in the fifth and sixth innings each.
Caden Gomes and Devin Eads regained the lead for SHU with RBI singles to make it 5-4.
Madonna tied the game at five with an RBI double as the game went to extra innings.
In the 10th, Grinstead tallied his second RBI with a double. Very next at-bat, Brock Olmstead recorded an RBI double to put the game away, as defensively the Saints went one, two, three at the bottom of the 10th.
