Hutchinson Walks Off in Game Two as Baseball Splits With Cornerstone

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team split a pair of games with Cornerstone at Joseph K. McLaughlin Baseball Stadium on Saturday. The Saints lost the first game 5-4 and won the second game 6-5. 

The Saints will return to action on Sunday, April 27, to close out the regular season vs Northwestern Ohio at 1 & 4 p.m. EDT. 

Game One: Cornerstone 5, Siena Heights 4 

Jack Semler led SHU offensively, batting 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI. 

Chase Molnar went the distance on the hill and was charged with three earned runs off 10 hits. Molnar compiled five strikeouts.  

SHU plated four runs in the first when Semler recorded an RBI triple. Landon DeVaney then tallied a two-RBI double, followed by Gino Hutchinson's sacrifice fly. 

Cornerstone rallied to score runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings to complete the comeback. Cornerstone scored three runs in the fourth and one in the sixth and seventh innings each.  

Game Two: Siena Heights 6, Cornerstone 5 

Landon DeVaney went 1-for-3 with one RBI while plating two runs. 

Shilo Bernal Jr. worked 6.2 innings, allowing five runs off 11 hits and forcing five strikeouts. Tim Polidor came in for relief and was the winning pitcher, working the final 2.1 innings, striking out two batters. 

Cornerstone jumped out to a 3-0 lead, plating three in the third. Mil Ramsey got SHU on the board with an RBI walk. In the seventh, Cornerstone hit a two-run homer to take a 5-1 lead.

In the eighth, Brock Olmstead hit an RBI single to start the comeback for SHU. Jack Semler started the scoring run with an RBI single, followed by an RBI double from Devin Eads. DeVaney tied the game with a sacrifice fly as Gino Hutchinson walked off with an RBI single to complete the comeback.
