Baseball's Final Season Ends At WHAC Tournament

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team's final season came to an end with a pair of losses at the WHAC Tournament on Friday. Individual recaps are below.

 

Game 1: Madonna 9, Siena Heights 5

One tough stretch was the difference as four unearned runs in the third inning had SHU playing catchup from that point. 

Mac Melvin and Mason Mitchell (double) had two-hit games. Zander Zeiter homered and drove in three runs.

Kaleb Woods had a triple. Jack Semler, Mason Baer and Pablo Arnaud added doubles.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first, an RBI groundout by Zeiter evened the score at 1-1.

Madonna took a 5-1 lead with its 4-run third and led the rest of the way.

Zeiter blasted an opposite-field, two-run home run to right field in the third, closing the deficit to 5-3.

Down 6-3 in the fifth, Siena Heights closed to 6-5 when Mac Melvin hit an RBI single and later scored on a wild pitch.

Madonna scored the final three runs.

 

Game 2: Indiana Tech 4, Siena Heights 1

The Warriors led the whole game, taking a 1-0 lead in the first and taking on insurance runs later to built a 4-0 edge.

SHU scored on an error in the sixth for its only run.

Semler (double), Mitchell, Baer and Jaozef Del Rosario had two-hit games.
