Cheer Earns Championship, Runner-Up Banners at America's Cup Cheerleading Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Siena Heights competitive cheer team competed twice at the America's Cheerleading Cup Championship on Feb. 7-8 at Universal Orlando.

During the first night of the competition, the Saints placed second to bring home a runner-up banner. On the second night, SHU placed first and were named champions in the small co-ed division. The team took home a first-place championship banner and hit a zero routine.

"I am so incredibly proud of this team," head coach Liz Teague said. "We have been working hard to overcome changes each week. The team worked together and hit their best routine of the season yet."

The Saints scored a 73.24 to open competition, trailing only Concordia (83.75) while finishing ahead of Hastings (65.52).

On day two, SHU scored an 82.49 while Hastings finished with 74.14.
