Siena Heights linebacker Tyler Karcher was named Mid-States Football Association Mideast League Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Karcher had 14 tackles, including four tackles-for-loss, as the Saints recorded a 19-14 win over Saint Francis (Ill.) on Saturday.

The Siena Heights defense finished with 10 tackles-for-loss, including one sack, while forcing three turnovers.

Karcher is the second SHU football player to earn the weekly defensive honor in 2014 -- and third Saint to be honored this season. Wide receiver Reggie Blackmon was named MSFA Mideast Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 6 and linebacker Trent Bragg was Mideast Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 20.
