A total of 11 Siena Heights football players were recognized as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the NAIA recently.
The honorees include 10 seniors: Lucas Bartz, Trent Bragg, Jacob Bultema, Jake Helsel, Paul Jacobs, Drew Milligan, Kody Richardson, Collin Teff, Larry Trice III and Lyle Van Fleteren; and one junior: Nic Acton.
Bartz, Milligan, Teff and Trice are Accounting majors while both Bragg and Richardson study Criminal Justice.
Also, Acton majors in Business Administration, Bultema has a focus in Elementary Education, Helsel studies Biology, Jacobs double-majors in Education and History, and Van Fleteren triple-majors in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.
In order to be nominated for the NAIA award, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status. A total of 319 men were recognized.
