UPLAND, Ind. -- The Siena Heights football team suffered its first MSFA Mideast loss, dropping a 42-28 contest to Taylor on Saturday.
Quarterback Braylen Himmelein threw for 298 yards, completing 20 of 33 passes. He had three TD passes and three interceptions.
Jaylen Flowers was the leading rusher with six carries for 74 yards.
Kendrick McBride made two touchdown receptions, finishing with three grabs for 51 yards. Tendaji Alexander had six receptions for 93 yards and a score.
Credell Prather made five catches for 68 yards. Quest Williams had a TD reception.
On defense, Jalen Edwards and Clarke Hamilton had 10 tackles apiece. Edwards made 1 1/2 sacks.
A.J. Knox totaled 2 1/2 tackles-for loss, including a half-sack. Joe Nemecek had a forced fumble and interception.
The teams were never more than one score apart until Taylor broke a 21-all tie with 21 straight points in the fourth quarter.
McBride had a 6-yard touchdown catch as SHU took a 7-0 first-quarter lead.
Lined up in the Wildcat formation, the Saints struck on a 4-yard pass play from Brendan Haisenleder to Williams.
A 7-yard hookup from Himmelein to Alexander helped the Saints pull into the aforementioned 21-21 tie.
The Saints' final points came courtesy of a 29-yard touchdown from Himmelein to McBride.
