Dan McKeown will start the 2016 season in his new role as the Defensive Coordinator.
McKeown will continue to serve for the fifth year as secondary coach for the Siena Heights football team. He also serves as the program's strength and conditioning coach.
McKeown is a graduate of Adrian College, where he currently holds the single-season and career school record for interceptions. McKeown set the Adrian single-season record with nine in 2004 en route to receiving All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association First Team and Football Gazette All-America First Team honors. His career interception record at AC is 15.
McKeown, who was a team captain at Adrian, took his leadership skills to Arizona where he became a teacher and defensive coordinator for the Bradshaw Mountain High School football team in Prescott Valley, Ariz. in 2009-11.
In 2013, McKeown helped turn the Saints' secondary into one of the best in the Mid-States Football Association. Both SHU cornerbacks -- Fred Butler and DeShawn Gilbert -- were All-MSFA Mideast League First Team honorees. In addition, Gilbert was named MSFA Mideast Co-Defensive Player of the Year and was selected to the AFCA-NAIA All-America Second Team.
