ADRIAN, Mich. -- Jamison Webster scored 17 points and Jerrel Martin compiled a double-double worth 10 points and 19 rebounds as the Siena Heights men's basketball team outlasted Calumet Saint Joseph (Ind.) for a 78-73 double-overtime victory at the Maple City Classic on Saturday at the SHU Fieldhouse.
Christian Covile added 12 points and seven assists while Stone Beckwith and Eric Cogan contributed 10 points apiece for the Saints (2-2), who trailed by seven in the first overtime before outscoring CCSJ, 23-11, the rest of the way. Malachi Satterlee contributed seven rebounds.
Covile buried a three-pointer with 1:29 left in double OT, giving SHU the lead for good. The Saints never trailed in the period.
Trailing 47-43 with 6:04 left in regulation, the Saints went on a 12-0 run. Webster had eight consecutive points, including a pair of three-pointers, while Satterlee contributed four points during the charge.
Siena Heights held a 55-47 lead with 1:50 to go. From there, Calumet scored eight straight points, including a pair of three-pointers by Franqlin Gatson, to force overtime at 55-55.
In the first extra period, Calumet Saint Joseph built its run to 15-0 and took a 62-55 advantage with 3:06 remaining. Once again, Webster hit a pair of three-balls before younger brother Justin Webster converted two free throws to forge a 66-all tie.
In the second OT, the Saints took three leads -- the last being the one that held.
SHU won the rebound battle, 49-34, and shot 27 of 69 from the field (39.1 percent).
Gatson led the Crimson Wave with 22 points while Robert Jackson and Chris Diehl put in 17 and 14, respectively. Jerrian Foster added 10 rebounds and six steals while Brian Brilmeyer grabbed seven rebounds.
In Saturday's early Maple City matchup, Roosevelt (Ill.) defeated Goshen (Ind.), 68-64. Tyree York had 22 points for Roosevelt and Jeremiah Jackson contributed 18 points and 17 rebounds. For Goshen, Tre Boyd scored 16 points.
The Saints will return to action on Tuesday with a 7:30 p.m. non-conference matchup at Saint Francis (Ind.).
