EATON, Ohio – The Siena Heights men's soccer team suffered a 6-4 loss against non-conference opponent Indiana East on Saturday.
Gustavo Lira scored a pair of goals. Lorenzo Martinez and Tiago Moraes also scored. Assists were credited to Moraes, Martinez and Samuel Fernandez.
Martinez opened the scoring for Siena Heights in the 12th minute with assists from Moraes and Martinez. IU East quickly answered with three straigh scores during the 17th, 23rd and 25th minutes.
Lira's first tally pulled SHU within 3-2 in the 33rd before halftime.
Lira's second goal also pulled the Saints within one in the 72nd after IU East scored in the 53rd. Lira was assisted by Martinez.
The hosts rattled off two more goals, pushing their lead to 6-3, before Moraes finished out the scoring in the 90th with 35 seconds left on the clock.
Siena Heights held a 19-15 shot advantage. Goalkeeper Yuriy Tukalevskyy saw 10 shots and had 4 saves
The Saints will return to play on Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. game at non-conference opponent Goshen.
