Men's Soccer Comeback Stifled by Late Penalty Shot

Adrian, Mich. -- After a schedule change due to inclement weather on Saturday night, Men's Soccer competed in a rare Sunday Afternoon contest against, WHAC conference opponent, Cleary, falling 5-3.

The match looked to be all Cleary early on as they went up 3-0 in the first half. Scoring goals in the 13th, 30th, and 35th minutes; however, the second half looked to be a different case, as Siena Heights put up two early goals in the second half. The first goal came in the 50th minute, scored by Tiago Moraes, unassisted. The second goal was scored by Felipe dos Santos in the 53rd minute, unassisted. Down by one, the Saints looked to be putting together a comeback. Cleary responded swiftly, scoring a goal in the 55th minute. Down by two, the Saints would not go out quietly. Joey Spagnoli scored in the 66th minute, assisted by Tiago Moraes. Despite Siena's best efforts, a late penalty kick goal from Cleary in the 82nd minute would all but end the Saints' comeback. The final score of the match was 5-3.
