Van Poppel, Harris Lead Men's Outdoor at Hillsdale Events

HILLSDALE, Mich. -- Holden Van Poppel recorded the top decathlon score in the NAIA while winning at the Hillsdale Mid-Week Multi and Jordan Harris hit an NAIA provisional distance while placing first in the discus at the 55th Gina Relays as the Siena Heights men's outdoor track and field team wrapped up four days of competition at Hillsdale.

Van Poppel had a score of 6,832 in the 10-stage decathlon and had the top mark in six stages while tying for the top mark in the pole vault with teammate Kolby Masserant, who placed runner-up in the decathlon.

Van Poppel had top marks in the 100-meter dash (11.16 seconds), long jump (22 feet, 7 3/4 inches; 6.90 meters), shot put (43-1 3/4; 13.15m), high jump (6-6 3/4; 2.00m), 110 hurdles (15.26s) and discus (113-10; 34.70m).

Van Poppel and Masserant both cleared 13-9 1/4 (4.20m) in the pole vault. Masserant's second-place score was 6,224; he was best in the javelin with a 173-8 (52.94m).

As a team, the Saints had four individual wins on the weekend.

Harris' provisional mark in the disc was 162-5 (49.50).

SHU's other wins came via Kyler Pequet, who won the open 800 in 1:59.03, and Habern, who stretched 21-9 (6.63m) to win the long jump.
