Men's Wrestling Competes in Battle in the Bluegrass

CORBIN, Ky. -- The Siena Heights men's wrestling team turned in several standout efforts at the Battle in the Bluegrass, with five Saints across the Blue and Gold squads earning two or more victories and powering the program to a productive day on the mats.

The Gold team led the charge with three placers. Ty Biggart delivered one of the tournament's most impressive runs, battling back from an early decision loss at 133 pounds to win four straight matches in the consolation bracket. Biggart recorded three pins—two of them in under 90 seconds—and capped his surge with a 7–4 sudden‑victory win over Marian's Landon Bertsch to secure third place.

At 184 pounds, Grant Richardson also put together a strong 4–2 performance for the Gold squad. Richardson opened with a 5–1 decision, added a major decision and a late third‑period fall in the consolations, and ultimately claimed fifth place via medical forfeit.

In the upper weights, Brandon Rau went 3–2 at 197 pounds, winning three straight decisions in the consolation rounds—including a 9–2 victory over Life University's Jayden Lhaubouet—to reach the third‑place match. Rau finished fourth overall.

The Blue team was highlighted by 165‑pounder Drake Munroe, who posted a 2–2 record and scored three team points. After dropping a tight decision in the championship bracket, Munroe responded with a first‑period pin and a 7–3 decision before bowing out in the fourth consolation round.

Rounding out the multi‑win performers, Maliki Mosher earned a seventh‑place finish for the Gold squad at 125 pounds. Mosher secured his placement with a fall in the seventh‑place match, closing the day at 1–2 but earning enough advancement and bonus points to reach the podium.
