TUCSON, Ariz. -- Katie O'Hotzke threw a no-hitter, hit two home runs and earned two pitching wins as the Siena Heights softball team claimed a 7-0 win over Viterbo (Wis.) and a 6-3 victory against Northwestern (Iowa) on Thursday at the Tucson Invitational Games.
O'Hotzke faced just one batter over the minimum (22) in the no-no against Viterbo. She recorded five strikeouts and one walk. Offensively, she was 1-for-2 with a two-run home run.
Megan Jones went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. Bitty Treece was 2-for-3.
The Saints took the lead on O'Hotzke's first-inning shot over the center-field fence.
Megan Jones had an RBI single during SHU's two-run third inning. Morgan Huttenlocker and Tiffany Jones also had RBIs in the win.
Against Northwestern, the Saints (6-4) jumped ahead for good with a three-run second inning.
Mariah Boss batted 3-for-4 with three runs scored and one RBI. Megan Jones was 2-for-3 while O'Hotzke (homer) and Kenya Keller had two RBI each.
Megan Jones had an RBI single in the Saints' first before Boss smacked an RBI single and Keller ripped a two-run single to help SHU to a 4-1 second-inning advantage.
O'Hotzke's dinger came in the fourth, putting Siena Heights 6-1. In the pitcher's circle, she allowed three runs (one earned) on 10 hits while compiling three strikeouts and one walk.
On the day, O'Hotzke worked 14 innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on 10 hits while finishing with eight strikeouts, two walks and a .185 opposing batting average. She induced 21 groundball outs.
The Saints will return to action on Friday with contests against Purdue North Central (Ind.) and Judson (Ill.).
