Softball Drops Two to Open WHAC Play

The Siena Heights Softball Team got back into action after a 21 day layoff and dropped two games to Madonna in opening WHAC play.

In the first game, the rust showed in the field and at the plate.  The Saints dropped the opener by a score of 8-0.  The Saints were no-hit and made a couple of early errors.  Katie O'Hotzke was the losing pitcher on the game.

In game two, the Saints once again got off to a slow start, spotting Madonna a five run lead in the top of the first.  They were able to respond and pull the game even plating two runs in the first, two in the second and one in the third before giving up the games final five runs, dropping game two by a score of 10-5.  Morgan Warfield started game two and took the loss with Taylor Hayes throwing 2.2 innings allowing one run in relief.

Mariah Boss and Megan Jones each had two hits in the night cap while Kenya Keller added the only other Saint hit in the game.  Boss and Keller each had a double while Jones added a homerun and three RBI.  Keller had the other Saint RBI. 

The Saints fall to 9-7 on the season and will return to action on Tuesday when they face another WHAC foe in Concordia.  The game is slated to be played in Ann Arbor, but may be moved to Siena Heights dependent on field conditions.  For the most up to date information, please visit our website at www.shusaints.com
