The Siena Heights Softball Team won their fifth and sixth games in a row, with another walk-off win (3-1) followed by a 7-3 win in game two of a WHAC doubleheader with Northwestern Ohio.
In the first game, the Saints gave up a first inning unearned run. They stayed behind 1-0 until the 3rd inning when Katie O'Hotzke blasted her 8th homerun of the season to tie the game at one.
The game remained tied at one until the seventh inning when the Saints came up with some magic for the third time this week. With two outs, Taylor Hayes crushed a double to set up Megan Jones for some two out heroics. Jones smashed a high and deep fly ball to left field clearing the fence for her third homerun and 12th and 13th two out RBI of the season and the walk-off 3-1 win.
On the mound O'Hotzke was exceptional, allowing only two hits, a single in the first, and a single to lead off the second inning. After the lead-off hit in the second inning, only one additional Racer batter reached base the rest of the game.
On the game, Hayes went 3-3 with two doubles, Mariah Boss added two hits, with Kenya Keller and Ashley O'Leary adding the other two hits for the Saints.
In game two, the Saints once again fell behind early, giving up two first inning runs before exploding for six runs in the 3rd inning. After taking a 6-2 lead after three, the Saints and Racers traded runs in the bottom of the 4th and top of the 5th for the final margin of 7-3.
The Saints took advantage of two Racer errors in the third coupled with six hits including three doubles in the inning. With one out, Boss singled followed by a Keller double to plate the first run of the game. After an error, Hayes doubled to plate Keller and scored later in the inning on another Racer error. With two outs, Tiffany Jones singled to plate two more runs. Jones came around to score on a double by Courtney Craig.
O'Hotzke sent her 9th homerun of the season over the centerfield fence in the bottom of the fourth to plate the final Saints run on the day. With the homeruns on the day, O'Hotzke moves into third on the single season homerun list, sitting two behind the record mark of 11.
Morgan Warfield earned the win in game two, throwing five innings, allowing three runs and striking out three. O'Hotzke came in to finish the final two innings for the Saints.
With the wins, the Saints move to 15-7 on the season and 6-2 in the WHAC. They will return to action on Wednesday with a non-conference doubleheader at home with Spring Arbor at 4 pm.
