ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team won a pair of non-conference games, 3-2 and 6-1, over cross-town rival Adrian at Christensen Memorial Softball Field on Wednesday.
During the 3-2 opener, Skylar Crenshaw and Kyndle Wolfinger batted 2-for-2 with run and stolen base each. Kelsie Abbott pitched the win, allowing nine hits without giving up an earned run. She recorded three strikeouts and zero walks.
Abbott and Hannah Bleikamp helped the Saints (11-6) to a 2-0 lead with RBI singles in the third and fifth innings, respectively.
After AC pulled even at 2-all in the sixth, Crenshaw scored on a wild pitcher in the SHU sixth to put the hosts ahead for good.
Kaitlin Lock was the losing pitcher for Adrian while Jessica Sarch (double) and Brooke Stewart (2 RBI) smacked two hits each.
The 6-1 nightcap ended due to darkness after 4 1/2 innings.
Megan Jones went 2-for-2 with a double, run and two RBI. Taylor Hayes added a 2-for-2 game with a run while Abbott scored twice, Morgan Warfield tripled and Crenshaw doubled.
Warfield was the winning pitcher in five innings of work. Beginning her season just this week after the end of the SHU women's basketball team's season, Warfield allowed one run on five hits while tallying three strikeouts and one walk.
The Bulldogs (9-5) took the game's first lead, scoring once in the first inning, before SHU ran off six unanswered runs.
Jones had an RBI double and Bleikamp ripped an RBI single in the SHU first. Jones later had an RBI single in the second.
Crenshaw figured into two scoring plays -- crossing the plate in the third on a wild pitch and converting a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Warfield had her run-scoring three-bagger in the fourth for the game's final run.
Brooke Stewart was the losing pitcher for Adrian.
The Saints will return to action this weekend with doubleheaders at Saint Xavier (Ill.) and Robert Morris (Ill.).
