ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team suffered a pair of losses, 10-3 and 22-2, to 18th-ranked Davenport in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Sunday.
The opener was pushed to extra innings before the visiting Panthers exploded for eight runs in the ninth inning.
Megan Jones and Skylar Crenshaw hit home runs for SHU. Kelsie Abbott and Hannah Bleikamp added doubles.
After DU scored two runs in the first inning, the Saints answered with two runs in their half of the inning as Jones blasted a two-run homer.
The game stayed 2-2 until the ninth, when DU had its huge inning. Crenshaw answered with a solo homer in SHU's half of the ninth before the final out was made.
Paige Sant'Angelo batted 3-for-5 with two homers and five RBI for Davenport. Alyssa Koziol added a home run and four RBI.
Emily Maves was the winning pitcher, giving up three runs on five hits while recording 15 strikeouts and three walks.
Abbott worked 8 2/3 innings for SHU. Of the nine runs scored against her, only three were earned. She allowed 12 hits and compiled three strikeouts, four walks and two hit batsmen.
In game two, the Panthers (33-7, 13-3) had an eight-run inning, a six-run frame and a pair of four-run innings to end the game after five innings
Taylor Heisler went 2-for-2 for SHU and Julie Bonk doubled. Abbott was the losing pitcher.
The Saints scored one run in the first -- on an RBI single by Hayes -- and then one in the third on a DU error.
Davenpor pitcher Alyssa Eastman threw four innings without giving up earned run. At the plate, she went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and three RBI.
K.C. Dunne added a 3-for-5 game with a double, stolen base, four runs and three RBI. Koziol was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and four RBI.
Siena Heights (17-18, 5-11) will return to action on Thursday with a 3:30 p.m. home WHAC doubleheader against Concordia.
