ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball swept a WHAC doubleheader against Rochester Christian, 6-1 and 12-0 in five innings, on Sunday at Christensen Memorial Softball Field.
The Saints (16-11, 6-5) will be back in action Tuesday with one 4 p.m. WHAC game at Defiance.
Game one: Siena Heights 6, Rochester Christian 1
Lee Clinton batted 2-for-4 with a homer, double and two RBI. Liberti Fair added a 2-for-4 game with two RBI, Emma Marshall went 2-for-3 and Faith Breinager doubled.
Shyann Truax was the winning pitcher, giving up one run on four hits while recording four strikeouts. She opened the game with 4 1/3 no-hit innings.
Fair helped the Saints to a 2-0 lead with RBI singles in the first and third innings. Emma Marshall added a run-scoring single in the third.
Clinton crunched a solo home run to fourth and Kennedy Orlando lined a pinch-hit, two-run single during the sixth.
RCU scored its only run in the seventh.
Game two: Siena Heights 12, Rochester Christian 0 (5 innings)
The Saints jumped out in front with a 9-run first inning and never looked back.
Breinager (double), Clinton, Fair (double), Truax, Ellie Thelen and Carly Grassley (triple) had two-hit games. Breinager, Thelen, Grassley, Lauren Dioszegi and Avery Schellenberger collected two RBI each.
During SHU's first inning, Thelen got the scoring started with a two-run single. Dioszegi followed with a bases-loaded walk, Schellenberger hit a two-run single and Breinager ripped a two-run double. Clinton added an RBI single and Fair drilled an RBI double.
Siena Heights tacked on three more runs in the second. Grassley delivered a two-run triple and Dioszegi had an RBI single.
Cassi Kieper was the winning pitcher, tossing a four-hit shutout. She totaled three strikeouts and two walks.
