DEFIANCE, Ohio -- The Siena Heights softball team earned a single WHAC victory over Defiance, winning 20-3 in five innings on Tuesday.
Liberti Fair tied a school record with four hits, batting 4-for-4 with a triple, two doubles, three runs and four RBI. It is the 50th time a SHU softball player has had four hits.
Shyann Truax had a three-hit game with a homer, double, five RBI and three runs.
Lee Clinton (triple), Ellie Thelen and Lauren Dioszegi added two-hit games. Clinton scored two runs and had an RBI, Thelen scored three times and had an RBI and Dioszegi drove in three runs.
Also, Faith Breinager scored three runs and Rachel Shoemaker doubled.
Winning pitcher Cassi Kieper allowed three runs on eight hits. She totaled six strikeouts and one walk.
The Saints (17-11, 7-5) took a 5-0 lead in the first inning and led the entire way.
Fair got SHU started with a two-run triple and then Thelen had an RBI single, Truax hit an RBI double and Dioszegi delivered an RBI single.
Truax and Dioszegi had two-run singles in the Saints' four-run second.
Siena Heights scored four runs in the third. Fair had an RBI double, Thelen scored on a wild pitch and Truax blasted a two-run homer.
Clinton had an RBI triple and Fair hit an RBI double in the fourth.
SHU finished out its scoring in the fifth with five runs. Riley Hoover had an RBI, Shoemaker drove a two-run double and Brooklyn Ross hit an RBI single.
The Saints will return to action Thursday with a 3 p.m. WHAC home doubleheader against Aquinas.
