FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Siena Heights softball team lost two WHAC games to Indiana Tech on Saturday, 7-3 and 6-3.
SHU will return to play Monday with a pair of WHAC contests at home against Madonna, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Game one: Indiana Tech 7, Siena Heights 3
The Saints had four hits; three were extra-base hits. Avery Schellenberger had a triple while Shyann Truax and Emma Marshall doubled.
A two-run triple by Schellenberger helped the Saints take a 2-1 lead in the second.
The host Warriors pushed ahead with three runs in the second before SHU closed the margin to 4-3 on an RBI double by Marshall in the fourth.
Indiana Tech widened its lead with a 1-run fifth and 2-run sixth.
Truax pitched for the Saints, giving up four earned runs on eight hits. She had two strikeouts and three walks.
Game two: Indiana Tech 6, Siena Heights 3
Faith Breinager batted 3-for-4 with a double and RBI while Schellenberger contributed a double.
SHU took its only lead in the first on a bases-loaded walk drawn by Truax.
Indiana Tech went up 2-1 in the first before a run-scoring double by Breinager tied the contest at 2-2.
The Warriors took the lead for good with a 4-run sixth.
SHU pushed across its only run on an RBI groundout in the third.
