Siena Heights softball player Liberti Fair was selected to the All-WHAC First Team, Lee Clinton was named to the Second Team and Avery Schellenberger was honored on the WHAC All-Defensive Team, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Fair, a senior, made an immediate impact after transferring from Grand Valley State, seeing time at both catcher and designated player. She led the team with 34 RBI. Fair also tied for the team lead in hits with 52.
Fair ranked second on the team in batting average (.419), on-base percentage (.510), walks (19), triples (3) and total bases (68) while tying for second in doubles (7) and stolen bases (10). She was third in slugging (.548), runs (30) and tied for fourth in homers (1).
Within the WHAC, Fair tied for 10th in walks.
Clinton, a sophomore, led the Saints in several offensive categories, finishing with team-highs of a .448 batting average, .538 on-base, .784 slugging, 55 runs, six triples, seven homers, 21 walks, 91 total bases and a school-record 35 stolen bases -- and a tie with Fair with 52 hits. Within the WHAC, she was third in on-base, slugging, runs and stolen bases, tied for third in triples and homers, fifth in batting average, seventh in total bases and tied for eighth in walks.
Clinton was also fourth on the SHU roster in doubles (6) and RBI (22).
Schellenberger, a sophomore, finished with a .975 fielding percentage; most of her innings played were at second base. In 159 chances, she recorded 106 putouts and 49 assists.
Carly Grassley, a junior, was named to the WHAC Champions of Character Team, becoming the first Saint softball player to earn that designation three times.
SHU had 13 players honored on the Academic All-WHAC Team: Grassley, Schellenberger, Faith Breinager, Courtnee Clark, Lauren Dioszegi, Emma Fair, Riley Hoover, Emma Marshall, Rory Miller, Rachel Shoemaker, Kelsey Speer, Ellie Thelen and Shyann Truax.
