LAST TIME OUT: The SHU women's basketball team started the new season with a 2-0 start at the Blue Devils Classic with wins over Taylor and Grace Christian. Senior Kayla Hinton, Peyton Banks, and Sha'kyia Parker led the Saints over the weekend.

Hinton had a fantastic debut for the navy and gold as she scored a team-high 24 points. She finished the two-day tournament third on the team, scoring 38 total points on her way to earning a spot on the all-tournament team.

Banks scored 38 points between the two games. She begins the season with a perfect free throw percentage, as she made all 10 of her attempts from the charity stripe. She also led the team in rebounds with 17 total for an 8.5 RPG. Banks was also named to the all-tournament team and were the tournament MVP.

Parker led the team with 39 points on 60% shooting from the floor, which included 40% from distance for the weekend. She also led defensively with six steals in the 2-0 start. The senior guard also touched the floor for a team-high 33.5 minutes per contest.

RECORD WATCH: Peyton Banks is 104 points shy of tying for the program record of 1,812 career points. She also sits 292 points from hitting 2,000 career points, which no SHU women's basketball player has reached. Her 821 career rebounds are 278 away from the lead in that category.
