UPCOMING FOR SHU: The Saints will play their home opener on Wednesday against Lourdes on Fred Smith Court at 6 pm. They will travel to Lima, Ohio to play Northwestern Ohio on Saturday at 1 pm.
 
HEAD COACH: Sue Syljebeck is in her 19th season as the head coach of the Saints women's basketball program. She is the program's winningest coach with a career record of 339-221. Syljebeck currently ranks 23rd on the NAIA Women's basketball active coach wins list. Deb Ray, Sara Chrenko, Niesha Lowe, Mo Rammuny, and Dan Brooks will assist her this year.
 
WHAC OPENERS: The Saints have won their last three home openers and are 6-3 in such games since 2013. Siena Heights beat Grace Christian, 87-43, in the 2021-22 home opener.
 
LAST TIME OUT: The Siena Heights women's basketball team rolled to an 83-45 blowout win over Aquinas on the road Saturday afternoon. Five Saint players tallied double-digit points in the win.

Kayla Hinton led the way in scoring with 15 points on 6-12 shooting. Hinton also registered four rebounds on the afternoon. Peyton Banks finished with 13 points and six rebounds. Olivia DeLong netted 12 points off the bench and ten rebounds to complete a double-double off the bench for Siena Heights. Sha'kyia Parker and Jillian Gelso each scored 10 points to contribute to the victory.

Siena Heights tallied 23 points off turnovers while outscoring the Aquinas bench 34-6. SHU dominated down low with a 30-20 edge in points in the paint and won the rebound battle 53-29.

The Saints shot 41.1% from the field, 35% from three, and 78.9% from the free-throw line. The SHU defense held the host Saints to only 28.8% shooting and 8.3% from beyond the arc. Aquinas also struggled from the line going 9-16.

 
RECORD WATCH: Peyton Banks is 78 points shy of tying for the program record of 1,812 career points. She also sits 266 points from hitting 2,000 career points, a point that no SHU women's basketball player has reached. Her 835 career rebounds are 264 away from the lead in that category, last week, she moved into 3rd place on the Saints' career record board and is 104 rebounds behind the second place total of 939.
 
Sha'kyia Parker is 216 points from 1,000 career points at SHU. She would be the 13th women's basketball player at Siena Heights to reach that milestone.  Her 132 3-point field goals moved her into 7th place this past week in the SHU record books.
