UPCOMING FOR SHU: Siena Heights will jump back into WHAC play this week with two WHAC games, home against UM-Dearborn, and at Lawrence Tech.
 
HEAD COACH: Sue Syljebeck is in her 19th season as the head coach of the Saints women's basketball program. She is the program's winningest coach with a career record of 347-224. Syljebeck currently ranks 22nd on the NAIA Women's basketball active coach wins list. She will be assisted this year by Deb Ray, Sara Chrenko, Niesha Lowe, Mo Rammuny, Dan Brooks and Tee Watters.
 
UM-DEARBORN:  The Saints have played the Wolverines 84 times in the rivarly's history with the Saints holding a 57-27 edge.  The rivalry dates back to the 1st season of the Saints program with the only seasons not having at least one game between the schools being the 1997-1998 season and the COVID season of 2020-2021.  Last year, the teams split their two games with each team winning on the road, the Wolverines beat the Saints 69-57 in the last matchup in February, 2022.
 
LAWRENCE TECH:  The Saints hold a 13-9 edge over Lawrence Tech in the histroy of the series.  The Blue Devils are coached by SHU alum, Grace Howrigon who starred for the Saints from 2010-2014 and still holds the school assist record.  SHU won both games last season with their last lost to the Blue Devils coming in the COVID shortened 2020-2021 season.
 
LAST TIME OUT:  SHU Holiday Tournament MVP Peyton Banks finished with 18 points and nine rebounds as the Siena Heights women's basketball team upset 19th-ranked Saint Francis (Ill.).  Sha'kyia Parker added 12 points and E'Anna Won totaled 10 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.  The Saints (12-3) were the tournament champions with a 2-0 record. Saint Francis was 1-1 and IU East finished 0-2.  Olivia DeLong added seven rebounds and Kayla Hinton dished four assists.
 
RECORD WATCH: Peyton Banks broke the SHU career scoring record on November 30th, surpassing Laura Panozzo's previous mark of 1,812.  She now sits 112 points from hitting 2,000 career points, a point that no SHU women's basketball player and only one SHU men's basketball player has reached. Her 901 career rebounds are 198 away from the lead in that category, she surpassed the 900 rebound mark December 30th, and sits 38 rebounds behind the second place total.  With one more free throw attempt, she will move into sole possession of 1st place in the SHU record book, she already holds the record for free throws made and free throw percentage.  
 
Sha'kyia Parker is 18 points from 1,000 career points at SHU. She would be the 13th women's basketball player at Siena Heights to reach that milestone.  She has now moved into 4th place in SHU history for career 3-point field goals, currently sitting at 165.  She is five 3-point field goals away from 3rd place in SHU history.
