UPCOMING FOR SHU: Siena Heights will finish off the first half of league play on Wednesday before starting the second half of league play on Saturday with home games against Concordia and Aquinas respectively.
 
HEAD COACH: Sue Syljebeck is in her 19th season as the head coach of the Saints women's basketball program. She is the program's winningest coach with a career record of 349-224. Syljebeck currently ranks 22nd on the NAIA Women's basketball active coach wins list. She will be assisted this year by Deb Ray, Sara Chrenko, Niesha Lowe, Mo Rammuny, Dan Brooks and Tee Watters.
 
CONCORDIA:  The Saints and Cardinals are two of  four schools that have accumulated seven wins in the first half of conference play, Siena Heights holds a half game lead over Concordia with a 7-2 record compared to Concordia's 7-3 record coming into the game Wednesday night.  In the 2021-2022 season, the teams split their two games with each team winning on their home court.  Over the last ten seasons, the Saints hold a 15-7 edge over the Cardinals.
 
AQUINAS:  This will be the second matchup for the two teams this season with Siena Heights winning 83-45 on November 12th.  Currently, Siena Heights is on a eight game winning streak against Aquinas with their last loss coming in the 2018-2019 season.  Over the last ten seasons, the teams have played 23 times with Siena Heights holding an 18-5 advantage.
 
LAST TIME OUT:  The Siena Heights women's basketball team opened with a nine-point run and led the entire way in its 72-55 win over WHAC opponent Lawrence Tech on Saturday.  Sha'kyia Parker led the Saints with 22 points and five rebounds while Kayla Hinton added 19 points, six rebounds and four assists. Peyton Banks compiled a double-double worth 14 points and 13 rebounds.  Jillian Gelso made nine rebounds and Olivia DeLong had six.
 
RECORD WATCH: Peyton Banks broke the SHU career scoring record on November 30th, surpassing Laura Panozzo's previous mark of 1,812.  She now sits 76 points from hitting 2,000 career points, a point that no SHU women's basketball player and only one SHU men's basketball player has reached. Her 920 career rebounds are 179 away from the lead in that category, she surpassed the 900 rebound mark December 30th, and sits 19 rebounds behind the second place total.  On January 4th, she moved into sole possession of 1st place in the SHU record book.  She already holds the record for free throws made and free throw percentage.  
 
Sha'kyia Parker surpassed the 1,000 point plateau on January 4th.  She has now moved into 11th place in the SHU record book with 1,023 points. She was the 13th women's basketball player at Siena Heights to reach 1,000 points..  She has now moved into 4th place in SHU history for career 3-point field goals, currently sitting at 165.  She is two 3-point field goals away from 3rd place in SHU history.
