UPCOMING FOR SHU: Siena Heights comes off a thrilling double overtime win in the WHAC Tournament Quarterfinals over Northwestern Ohio on Thursday. They will face Rochester in the WHAC Tournament Semi-Finals on Saturday. The Saints won both match ups in the regular season, with the most recent a 15 point win just 10 days prior to this game.
HEAD COACH: Sue Syljebeck is in her 19th season as the head coach of the Saints women's basketball program. She is the program's winningest coach with a career record of 359-226. Syljebeck currently ranks 22nd on the NAIA Women's basketball active coach wins list. She will be assisted this year by Deb Ray, Sara Chrenko, Niesha Lowe, Mo Rammuny, Dan Brooks and Tee Watters.
GAME ONE AT SHU: Sha'Kyia Parker set a new career high in points with 31, leading the Saints to a come from behind 79-74 win. Parker led all scorers with 31 points on the night, surpassing her previous career high of 30 points. Banks added 12 points in limited action with E'Anna Won adding 11 points and Eva Alcock adding 10. Kayla Hinton led the team in rebounds with 9, Won led the team with six assists. Won had a team high four blocks with Parker adding three blocks, Won also led the way with two steals.
GAME TWO AT RU: The Siena Heights women's basketball team outlasted Rochester for a 90-75 victory during WHAC competition on Wednesday night. Sha'kyia Parker led the Saints (23-4, 16-3) with 20 points and four steals while Peyton Banks contributed 18. Brooke Rebman added 15 points and Olivia DeLong put in 10. DeLong also made three blocks. E'Anna Won finished with nine assists and seven rebounds and Kayla Hinton came through with seven rebounds and four steals. The contest featured 11 lead changes before Siena Heights took command in the fourth quarter with an 11-point run.
RECORD WATCH: Peyton Banks broke the SHU career scoring record on November 30th, surpassing Laura Panozzo's previous mark of 1,812. She reached the 2,000 point plateau on January 25th. On February 18th, she eclipsed the 1,000 rebound plateau becoming the second player in SHU women's basketball history to have at least 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Her 1,020 career rebounds are 79 away from the lead in that category. Her 697 field goals are 2nd best in SHU history. Banks has moved into 4th place in 3-pt FG. On February 23rd, she eclipsed the 2,100 point plateau. She set a new single game high in points in SHU basketball history with 47 points, breaking the previous mark set by Sierra Calhoun who had 41 points. She also set the SHU basketball career point record for men and women, eclipsing the previous mark held by Brent Tucker of 2,122.
Sha'kyia Parker surpassed the 1,000 point plateau on January 4th. She has now moved into 10th place in the SHU record book with 1,229 points. She sits 15 points back of the 9th place total in SHU history. She was the 13th women's basketball player at Siena Heights to reach 1,000 points. She has now moved into 3rd place in SHU history for career 3-point field goals, currently sitting at 198. Her 544 3-pt field goal attempts place her in 4th place, 36 attempts behind the 3rd place mark.
Allye Minor has 268 career assists, placing her 8th best in SHU history, 13 assists back of the 7th place total.
