Siena Heights women's basketball players Peyton Banks and Sha'kyia Parker were named WBCA All-America Honorable Mentions, as announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Wednesday.
The two seniors capped their final year with SHU as All-WHAC First Team honorees. They were important pieces to a squad that reached its first NAIA Tournament since 2020.
Banks will leave Siena Heights as one of the greatest players in program history. During the season, she became the Saints' all-time leading scorer in Siena Heights basketball history, both men and women. She finished with 2,193 career points.
In 2022-23, Banks was named to her fourth straight All-WHAC First Team. She has received All-American honors from both the NAIA and WBCA in each of the past four seasons.
Banks' career records also include most free throws in program history (597), highest 3-point percentage (.422) and highest free-throw percentage (.896). She is also second in field goals (708), second in rebounds (1,040), second in points per game (15.55) and ninth in field-goal percentage (.506).
As a senior, Banks led the team in free-throw percentage (.882), 3-point percentage (.430) and rebounds per game (7.9). She ranked second behind Parker in points per game (17.4).
Parker earned her second straight All-WHAC First Team honor. The WBCA All-America honorable mention is her first national award.
Parker led the Saints in scoring with 17.9 points per game in 2022-23. She had a team-high 23 points during SHU's first-round loss to Rio Grande (Ohio) in the NAIA Tournament.
Parker also inked her name into the Siena Heights record books. She ranks third all-time in 3-pointers (202) and 3-point percentage (.361). She is also sixth in points per game (13.14), eighth in field goals (452) and ninth in points (1,261).
"Peyton and Shak worked extremely hard to get to this point," Saints head coach Sue Syljebeck said. "They left a lasting impact on our program and added to the tradition by helping us get back to the NAIA Tournament."
