LIMA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team dropped a 78–70 WHAC contest on Wednesday night.
Siena Heights (4–3, 3–1) came out firing, racing to a 26–10 lead after the opening period. Senior forward Lauren DeWolf poured in 12 points in the first quarter alone. The Saints dominated early with 14 rebounds and 14 points in the paint, building a cushion that grew to as many as 22.
The Saints carried a 40–33 advantage into halftime, with Jam Thigpen battling inside for second‑chance points and Kanyla Tyler adding steady scoring. Thigpen finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Tyler chipped in 10 points and two assists.
But the second half swung toward the Racers. Northwestern Ohio (7–2, 2–2) found its rhythm from three‑point range and at the free‑throw line, outscoring Siena Heights 45–30 after the break.
Siena Heights still showed fight late, with DeWolf and Thigpen keeping the Saints within striking distance until the final minutes. But foul trouble and cold shooting down the stretch allowed the Racers to pull away.
The Saints will return to play Saturday, Dec. 13, with a 1 p.m. WHAC game at Cleary.
