ADRIAN, Mich. — Ty'Veonna Davis poured in a game-high 27 points to lead Siena Heights past Madonna, 80-53, on Wednesday night at the SHU Fieldhouse.
Davis shot 12-of-16 from the floor and added eight rebounds, setting the tone for a Saints offense that clicked at 48.5 percent overall. Siena Heights (5-4, 4-3 WHAC) used balanced scoring and a dominant inside presence to pull away after trailing 17-15 at the end of the first quarter.
Jam Thigpen provided a spark off the bench with 14 points, 10 rebounds and four steals, while Kanyla Tyler added 12 points and six boards. Lauren DeWolf chipped in 12 points, hitting four 3-pointers, and E'Moni Finch scored 10.
The Saints outscored Madonna 19-11 in the second quarter to take a 34-28 halftime lead, then broke the game open with a 21-9 third-quarter run. Siena Heights finished with 42 points in the paint and 19 second-chance points, compared to Madonna's 26 and six.
Siena Heights will close out the calendar year at home, hosting Bethel (Ind.) on Wednesday, Dec. 31.
