Women's Basketball Edged in OT by Bethel

ADRIAN, Mich. — The Siena Heights women's basketball team came up just short in a thriller Wednesday afternoon, falling 68-67 in overtime to Bethel (Ind.) at the SHU Fieldhouse.

The Saints (5-5) rallied late in regulation to force the extra period, but Bethel (10-4, 1-3) held on after a back-and-forth finish. Siena Heights led 66-62 with 32 seconds left in OT before Bethel answered with a 3-pointer and a layup in the closing moments.

Ty'Veonna Davis paced the Saints with 21 points, nine rebounds and four steals, hitting 7 of 16 from the field and 5 of 8 at the line. Kanyla Tyler added 15 points, four rebounds and three steals, while Lauren DeWolf scored 12 points and grabbed six boards. Jam Thigpen anchored the paint with 11 rebounds, five points and three blocks.

Siena Heights shot 32.8 percent from the floor and 15.8 percent from 3-point range, but converted 22 of 29 free throws (75.9%). The Saints dominated the glass with 49 rebounds and scored 30 points in the paint, while forcing 17 turnovers for 18 points off takeaways.

The game featured nine ties and seven lead changes, with Siena Heights' largest lead coming in overtime at 66-62.
