Thigpen Doubles, But Women's Basketball Comeback Falls Short

ADRIAN, Mich. — Jam Thigpen pieced together a double-double, but the Siena Heights women's basketball team was unable to dig out of an early hole Wednesday night, dropping a 59–54 decision to visiting Rochester Christian in WHAC action at the SHU Fieldhouse.

Thigpen was the clear engine for Siena Heights, piling up 16 points, 21 rebounds, four steals and a block. Siena Heights finished with a 45–31 rebounding advantage and 18 second‑chance points, much of it fueled by Thigpen's work on the glass.

But the Saints' cold start proved too costly. Siena Heights opened 3‑for‑17 from the field and fell behind 15–8 after the first quarter, then slipped into a 12‑point halftime deficit. Rochester Christian pushed the margin to 18 in the third before the Saints began to claw back.

Kanyla Tyler added 10 points and five rebounds, while Lauren DeWolf scored eight, including a key third‑quarter three‑pointer that helped cut into the Warriors' lead. E'Moni Finch provided a late spark off the bench with six points and two steals.

Siena Heights steadily chipped the deficit to single digits in the fourth, using defensive pressure and interior scoring to make it a one‑possession game in the final minute. Tyler converted a pair of late layups, bringing the Saints within 57–54 with 34 seconds left.

However, the Saints never found the tying basket. Rochester Christian hit two free throws with 25 seconds remaining, and Siena Heights' final look at the rim came up short.
