Final Women's Basketball Season Ends In WHAC Semifinals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Siena Heights women's basketball team played its final game in program history, falling 77–49 in the WHAC Tournament semifinals to top-seed Indiana Tech on Friday.

Kanyla Tyler paced Siena Heights with 16 points on 6‑for‑14 shooting, adding a pair of rebounds and a steal. Jam Thigpen posted a nine‑point, 14‑rebound effort, including nine boards on the offensive glass. E'Moni Finch finished with seven points and an assist, while Lauren DeWolf added seven points, three rebounds, a block and a steal.

The Saints (14–13) trailed 21–12 after the first quarter. Indiana Tech (25–5) shot 55.4 percent overall and led by as many as 29.

Siena Heights hung within 34–25 late in the second quarter before the Warriors closed the half with a 9–2 run. Indiana Tech blew the game open with a 24‑10 third quarter, fueled by Covington's 14‑point frame and a stretch of five straight Warrior scoring possessions.

The Saints shot 34 percent from the field and finished with 19 turnovers that led to 24 Indiana Tech points. Siena Heights won the bench‑scoring battle 6–5 and outscored the Warriors 14–13 in the fourth quarter behind two late threes from Victoria Serrano Ortiz.
