ADRIAN, MICH. – The Siena Heights Athletics Department will be announcing an all-decade team for every SHU athletic team to finish out the year 2020. Each all-decade squad will feature a starting lineup consisting of the best athletes at each position from the past 10 seasons.
This edition features the Siena Heights women's golf all-decade team. The team consists of Andrea Richards, Kelly Sawyer, Dakota Spears, Madisyn Reed, and Jaclyn Fanola.
As a group, the women's golf all-decade team totals nine all-conference awards, five WHAC all-academic honors, and three NAIA Scholar-Athlete awards. There are also three Thomas Emmet Sr. Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award winners on the team.
Andrea Richards – Richards is arguably the most decorated women's golfer in program history. She earned first-team All-WHAC every year of her college career (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016). On top of that she was a WHAC All-Academic award winner in 2015 and 2016. She earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete awards during that same time. Richards is the first of the three Thomas Emmet Sr. Outstanding Scholar-Athlete award recipients (2016).
Kelly Sawyer – Sawyer is the lone Saint women's golfer on the 2010 team to be named to the all-decade team. She was a member of the 2010 All-WHAC first team.
Dakota Spears – Spears is one of two current Siena Heights women's golfers that made the all-decade team. She has earned second-team All-WHAC awards in both 2017 and 2019. The latter was also her first year being named to the WHAC All-Academic team. Spears was another Thomas Emmet Sr. Outstanding Scholar-Athlete award winner, winning the award this year (2020). She is the fifth the women's golfer to win that award in the last decade.
Madisyn Reed – Reed earned second-team All-WHAC, WHAC All-Academic, and NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 2018. The following year, she brought home a second WHAC All-Academic honor and the Thomas Emmet Sr. Outstanding Scholar-Athlete award.
