ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's soccer team rolled to a 7-1 season-opening victory over non-conference opponent Indiana East on Wednesday at O'Laughlin Stadium.
Lily Tiplady led the way with two goals and one assist while Madison Verhaeghe, Maddie Morris, Rylie Henckel, Madalyn Freitas and Keirra Thompson tallied single goals.
Sarah Ammon made two assists. Emily Broman and Parker Cheney also had assists.
Kendall Wise was the winning goalkeeper, stopping two shots in 76 minutes.
Thompson and Henckel had first-half goals for the Saints, who took a 2-1 lead into halftime before exploding for five goals in the second. Ammon assisted Thompson in the 18th minute and Broman helped Henckel in the 30th.
During the second half, the Saints pulled away with three goals in a span of four minutes, 16 seconds. Tiplady was in on all three goals: she assisted the first, which was scored by Morris in the 54th, and then tallied the next two in the 56th and 58th with assists from Cheney and Ammon, respectively.
Verhaeghe had her goal during the 71st and Freitas converted a penalty kick in the 83rd.
The Saints will return to action on Monday, Aug. 26, with a 5 p.m. CST (6 p.m. EST) game at Olivet Nazarene.
