Tale of Two Emmas: Stewart Now Owns Indoor Vault Record, Valentine Qualifies To Defend High Jump Crown

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich., and GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Pole vaulter Emma Stewart claimed the Siena Heights indoor women's pole vault record as her own as the Siena Heights women's track and field team combined for three event wins, including two NAIA automatic-qualifying performances during competition. SHU competed at the Jets Invitational at Saginaw Valley State and the Grand Rapids Hall of Fame Meet at Aquinas.

Stewart won the pole vault competition with a clearance of 4.08 meters (13‑4½). Stewart remained the No. 1 vaulter in the NAIA, breaking her previous school record shared with Tyler Fugate (13-4 1/4).

Emma Valentine led the Saints with a win in the high jump, clearing 1.73 meters (5‑8) to claim first place. Valentine, a two-time indoor national champ, stamped her ticket to nationals with that height.

Terria Fisher added a third event win by taking first in the triple jump with a mark of 10.75 meters (35‑3¼).
