Saints Gear Up for Three WHAC Matches This Week

This Week for SHU Women's Volleyball

Upcoming for Saints Women's Volleyball: The Saints continue WHAC play with three conference matches this week. They start the week with a home meeting against Rochester on Tuesday, March 2. SHU then hits the road for two matches. The first is on Thursday, March 4 at Lawerence Tech, the second is Saturday, March 6 at UNOH.
 
Head Coach: Kim Berrington enters her sixth season as the head coach for the Saints. She is in her sixth season with the Saints with a record of 101-66 overall and 52-47 in the conference. 
 
Protect This House: The saints are 60-30 at home since 2013. SHU hasn't started 2-0 at home for a season since 2018, that was also the last season the Saints had a 2-0 start to the season. 
 
On the Road: The Saints are 1-0 on the road this season. They played their first match away from the SHU Fieldhouse last Friday (Feb. 26) against Rochester where they swept the Warriors in straight sets. 
 
Infusion of Youth: Several freshmen have made their presence known on the court this season for the Saints. Samantha Getson is second on the team in kills with 55 (2.20 k/s). Aubrey Bates is third in kills (30) and leads the team in assists (205). She is also active defensively as she has 75 digs (2nd on team).
 
The Saints have had four freshman play 95 sets so far this season. Bates and Getson have the most sets played with 25. Kinsey Wagner has played 19, Payton Osborne and Cailynn Sullivan 10, Kadie Carsten has six.
 
Setting the Tone: Freshman setter Aubrey Bates achieved her first career triple-double (10 K, 34 A, 11 digs) in Sunday's win over Lourdes. She has recorded at least a double-double in all but one of the matches for the Saints this season.
 
Last Week Recap: Cornerstone 3, SHU 2
The Saints (3-2 overall, 3-2 WHAC) lost a five-set nailbiter to unbeaten Cornerstone Wednesday in conference action, 25-21, 21-25, 25-17, 18-25, 15-10. Janel Ruhlman had 10 kills, Sam Huddleston 21 digs, and Katelyn Ferris five blocks for SHU.
 
SHU 3, Rochester 0
The Saints (4-2 overall, 4-2 WHAC) swept Rochester 3-0 Friday in conference action, 25-17, 25-19, 25-14. Kinsey Wagner had 15 kills, Aubrey Bates 29 assists, and Karsyn Wolf and Cailynn Sullivan 14 digs apiece for SHU.
 
Series History: Rochester: Siena Heights has never lost to Rochester in the first 13 meetings between the teams. The Saints have swept the Warriors in nine of those meetings.
 
Lawrence Tech: This is the 17th meeting between the Saints and Blue Devils during the Kim Berrington era at SHU. Siena is 10-6 against Lawrence Tech during that time.
 
UNOH: The Saints and Racers have met 11 times since 2014. UNOH holds a slight 6-5 edge over the Saints during that time, including a three-match winning streak that dates back to the 2018 season.
