HOW IT HAPPENED

The Warriors hung around for the first part of the opening set, holding leads of 2-1 and 5-4. During the latter advantage, the Saints used a 3-0 run to recapture the lead, 7-5, before Rochester battled back to tie things up again at seven. That was the final tie of the game as the Saints pulled away eventually gaining a 17-10 edge before claiming the 25-20 win and the 1-0 lead.

The second set was all SHU as the Saints pulled away early to build a 9-3 lead before earning the 2-0 lead with a 25-16 win. The second set was also the best hitting set for Siena Heights as the team finished with a .324 percentage (the highest of the match).

Similar to the first set, the Warriors stuck around and continued to rally to cut the Siena lead to just a point up to a score of 19-18. Kinsey Wagner then registered back-to-back kills that sparked a 4-0 run for SHU and allowed the Saints to pull away to a 23-18 advantage. Aubrey Bates issued a kill that gave Siena match-point and then Wagner finished the game with the final point off an assist from Bates.
