SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Siena Heights women's volleyball team fell 3-1 at Lourdes on Tuesday evening. Aubrey Bates let the Saints in the losing effort with 40 assists and 13 digs for a double-double.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints hopped out to a 5-2 lead early in the first set. That lead grew to five points with a 16-11 advantage before a 4-0 run by Lourdes cut the deficit to 16-15. Siena remained in control until the Grey Wolves used a 3-0 run to pull ahead 20-19. Lourdes remained with the edge for the rest of the game before a 2-0 run ended the set and the Grey Wolves took the 1-0 lead.
Lourdes maintained firm control in the second set as they quickly gained an 8-3 advantage. The lead grew to 17-8. The Saints battled and kept the deficit in single-digits, but they failed to tie things up before the 25-19 result and the home team, 2-0 lead.
The third set belongs to Siena as the team pulled away with a 5-0 lead that put the score at 10-3. A 3-0 lead later pushed the advantage to 10 points, 21-11, as the Saints won the game 25-18 to get on the board, 2-1.
Things were tight in the fourth as the score remained within a few points and tied six times. The final tie came at 22 points when Lourdes rattled three-straight points to tie things up and force a Siena timeout. After the break, the Grey Wolves continued the 5-0 run to end the match with a 25-22 decision.
TOP SAINTS
• Bates was three kills away from a triple-double on the evening. She also added two service aces to her totals.
• Janel Ruhlman led the Saints attack with 20 kills in the contest. She added five digs, two blocks, and two aces to her stat line.
• Samantha Getson finished with 12 kills.
• Payton Osborne led on defense with 22 digs and four assists.
• Karsyn Wolf and Sam Huddleston each tallied 10 digs in the match.
THE OPPOSITION
• Allie Hale led the Grey Wolves with 12 kills and 14 digs.
• Megan Vayansky had 35 assists and 13 digs.
