Alessia Vagnini was a standout two-sport athlete for the Saints, excelling as a midfielder in soccer from 2009 to 2012 and later as a goalkeeper on the inaugural women’s lacrosse team in 2012. 

On the soccer field, Vagnini earned First Team All-WHAC honors in 2011. She was recognized twice as an Academic All-WHAC honoree and a two-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete. In 2012, she was named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection. Vagnini played a key role in the Saints’ 2010 and 2011 WHAC Championship teams, appearing in 58 games, scoring 18 goals, and contributing 8 assists. 

In lacrosse, Vagnini quickly made her mark as the Saints’ goalkeeper, earning Academic All-WHAC honors and setting several program records. She holds the 5th-best career goals-against average (17.56) and ranks 3rd all-time in career saves (257). Her 141 saves in 2013 are the 3rd-highest single-season total in SHU history, while her 116 saves in 2012 rank 6th.
