SHU Men's Volleyball Grabs First Win of 2014

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Gilius Blinstrubas finished with 10 kills and five aces as the Siena Heights men's volleyball team earned its first victory of 2014 -- a 3-0 non-conference decision over Cincinnati Christian at the SHU Fieldhouse on Friday.

Max Field and Luke Sagaert added eight and seven kills, respectively, for the Saints (1-1), who claimed sets of 25-18, 25-23 and 25-20.

Zak Krug made 18 assists while Gabriel Murley contributed 11 assists and seven digs. Allanderson Meira also had seven digs for SHU.

The Saints went on an early 5-1 run and led the entire way in the first set before using a 7-0 run during the second to take command. In the second, the Saints trailed 6-4 before their go-ahead run. Blinstrubas had two aces and one kills while SHU benefited from four CCU errors.

Siena Heights used more strong service from Blinstrubas to go on a five-point run -- and take an 8-4 lead -- an advantage the Saints never relinquished. Blinstrubas had a kill and ace while Sagaert contributed two kills during the streak.

Emmanuel Celestino was the top performer for the visitors, finishing with eight kills. Logan Snow added 19 assists while Ariel Milo contributed 14 digs.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday with a 6:15 p.m. non-conference match at Penn State Behrend.
