BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- The Siena Heights women's soccer team tied non-conference opponent Olivet Nazarene, 1-1, on Monday. Both teams received votes on the NAIA preseason poll.
Parker Cheney scored the Saints' goal, tying the contest in the 84th minute with an assist from Sarah Ammon. Ammon dribbled near midfield before feeding Cheney with a through-ball.
SHU had trailed much of the contest after falling behind in the 11th.
Ammon nearly won the game for SHU in the 90th minute, but her shot was saved with mere seconds left on the clock.
In goal, Kendall Wise made one save in the first half and then Lily Diamond stopped four shots in the second.
The Saints will return to action on Saturday with a 7 p.m. non-conference game at Mount Vernon Nazarene.
